The Wise Man

Published by gaiarady under Uncategorized Edit This

Reading the news is probably one of my greatest sources of amusement, but also of extreme disappointment with the state of human affairs. There is a part of me which still cannot fathom how it is the majority of you lead your lives. I understand the process, illogical as it is, and how it stems from a natural human reaction… but all the same, I am astounded. I know it is simply that you are lacking in the internal fortitude to uplift yourselves, but it’s bizarre that this situation has remained for so long.

You people are just so prone to miring yourselves in misery and perpetual suffering. It is as though you do not know any other way to behave but fearfully, in agitated manner, ready to lash out and to kill at a moments notice for fear of difference, for lack of understanding. Mostly, it appears, for lack of knowing anything else to do.

Ignorance and blind obedience keep you where you are, shackled and in misery, suffocating the spark of life which is your spirit. If you must be blindly obedient, couldn’t you have at least chosen to obey someone worthy of respect?

Apparently, and unfortunately, this is not the case.

Instead being given their due respect, the wise men among you are banished, driven through the streets until they are killed or run out of town. They say the wise man lives in the mountain, but I don’t think most people realize why this is so. First, of course, it is so because the wise know the value of living somewhere remote. Second, however, it is because the people will not tolerate the presence of the wise.

The people, as they currently are and have been for some time, cannot bear to have someone who knows the truth, and therefore sees them to be what they are (which is, generally, as someone of many mistakes and frequently of outright criminality), be in their presence. By his very act of being there, the wise man elicits a sense of being judged too great for the people to bear. They know such a man is paying attention and will remember the mistakes they have made, will see the truth of their character despite every shroud they may try to hide behind.

What they do not understand is that such a wise man also knows better than to burden himself with tallying up the mistakes of everyone he encounters, nor of holding petty grudges. Such a wise man has so much more to do in his time, he knows better than to spend it wasted in rivalries or hostility. If he is cursed by another, he deflects the curse without a second thought, for it is not his burden, and his life is better spent in other pursuits.

So long as we live in a world where everyone allows everyone else to lie to them, in exchange for being allowed to lie in return without repercussion, where duplicity and falsity is the order of the day, and where honesty about something so simple as one’s emotional state is foreign, then you people will always fear and revile anyone who represents the objective truth. Objective reality terrifies such people, and therefore anyone who deals in objective reality, rather than illusions and facades, will be rejected by those who cannot stand to be separated from their falsehoods.

They cannot stand to be looked at and seen for what they are, stripped bare of their pretenses. It is hard enough for them to try to hide from themselves, but introduce the presence of someone perceptive and wise, who can see through their shields to their true self, and then hiding becomes impossible altogether. So they run, or they drive the individual from their company, even if that person is their child.

You cannot hide from yourself. Despite every effort you may make in that regard, all will come to nothing and be fruitless, for you shall know yourself. You shall know every deed, and every thought. For all of time, you will be known by yourself, and you cannot forget, you cannot destroy the memories.

So I look forward to a time when humans on this lovely planet will realize that they are only prolonging their own torturous suffering with their denial and their unwillingness to confront their own behaviours and hypocrisy. It will come, and I am patient. All things in their time.
